Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh has asked Ha Noi authorities to thoroughly deal with voters' petitions and cases within their own jurisdiction, then report their work to voters and central agencies.
Meeting with voters in Hoan Kiem and Ba Dinh precincts on Dec. 13, General Secretary Manh hailed their frank opinions on various matters. He noted that the system of meeting with voters should be improved so that National Assembly deputies can meet directly with voters and citizens at residential areas.
The Party leader briefed the voters on Viet Nam's recent achievements, affirming that these will be the prerequisites for lifting the country out of its current underdeveloped status to becoming an industrialised nation by 2020, as set by the 10th National Party Congress.
At the meeting, several voters raised their concern about urgent matters, including land management and use, project site clearance, traffic accidents in the city, education for children, loans for small business households, as well as corruption and bureaucracy in some high-ranking positions in the administration.
They also suggested that the role of People's Councils at all levels be increased and practical measures be defined to ensure the efficiency of the supervision of officials and Party members at residential areas.
