PANO – The Hanoi Municipal Youth Committee on March 16th met and honoured secretaries of youth committees of communes, wards, and towns of the city in 2016, in the presence of Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai.

Evaluating youth activities over the past time, the Secretary of Hanoi Municipal Youth Committee Nguyen Van Thang affirmed that with the vanguard spirit, millions of youths in the city have conducted many practical activities and projects to ease traffic congestion, improve the environment, assist those sitting for university entrance exams, and speed up administrative reform, making contributions to building a modern and civilized city.

At the event, the delegates also pointed out shortcomings in carrying out youth activities as well as put forward measures to raise the effectiveness of the work. All the youths voiced their hope that the city will continue to create favourable conditions for youths to promote their capability, creativity, professionalism, and skills to have initiatives and technologies to contribute to the industrialization and modernization of the city in particular and the nation in general.

They said that the city’s leaders should pay attention to creating more jobs for youths, especially those in rural areas. Secretary of the youth committee of Ha hamlet, Lien Trung commune, Dan Phuong district, Nguyen Thi Luyen suggested that giving financial and technical assistance to help youths develop youths’ production models in their localities is an effective method.

Some of the participants said that it is necessary to equip youths with skills and equipment to raise the effectiveness and quality of youth activities. 

Mr. Hoang Trung Hai acknowledged youths’ efforts to overcome difficulties and asked the city’s departments and agencies to study and give advice to the municipal Party Committee, People’s Committee and relevant agencies to realize proposals at the meeting, especially creating jobs for youths.

He requested youth committees to raise the quality of their activities by developing creative and attractive new activities in accordance with international integration process and give advice to local party committees and authorities on youth work in an active, creative, accurate, effective and timely manner, contributing to the construction and development of the city.

Hai emphasized that youth committees at all levels should understand youths’ aspiration, keep track of local situations, grasp the guidelines, resolutions, and programs on youth activities as well as encourage their members to contribute to the development of the city.

The city’s leader believed that with creativity and enthusiasm, youths will obtain more achievements, in keeping with the 85-year tradition of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.
