PANO – Lieutenant-General Dao Duy Minh, Deputy Director of the General Department of Logistic, visited and offered 92 gifts to wounded soldiers and sick soldiers under treatment at Army Central Hospital 108 on July 24th.
General Minh praised efforts of staff, doctors and nurses at the hospital for their studies to improve their professionalism in applying new technologies in treating patients, including wounded soldiers, sick soldiers and those who had rendered good services to the revolution. The General suggested that the Hospital should promote solidarity among as well as raise creativeness of staff, doctors and nurses at the Hospital. The Hospital’s staff, doctors and nurses should proactively raise their professionalism.
* On July 23rd, the Command of Military Zone 4, in association with Nghe An provincial Radio–Television, held an exchange, “When drinking water remember who dug the well”. At the exchange, participants had an opportunity to meet and exchange with wounded soldiers who took challenges in their stride for better life and actively participated in social activities. At the event, the Military Party Commssion and Command of Military Zone 4 presented gifts to wounded soldiers and social beneficiaries. As an official revealed, on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day, Military Zone 4 spent over VND 22 billion to repair and improve martyrs’ cemetery, to build houses of gratitude and to visit and present gifts to wounded soldiers, sick soldiers and social beneficiaries.
* On July 24th, the Command of Military Zone 9 worked with a specialized department of An Giang Provincial People’s Committee to hold a solemn ceremony to re-bury 364 sets of remains of martyrs found and repatriated by Team K93, under the An Giang Provincial Military Command and Team K90 of Military Zone 9 during dry season of 2011-2012.
120 out of re-buried sets of remains were found in Cambodia and the remainder was found in the Bay Nui battlefield in districts of Tinh Bien and Tri Ton.
* General Department of Engineering on July 24th sent a delegation to lay a wreath in tribute to martyrs at martyrs’ cemetery in Tay Phong commune, Cao Phong district, Hoa Binh province. The cemetery is a graveyard for 36 staff and troops from Warehouse K834, under General Department of Engineering, who died on duty on September 23rd, 1983.
The delegation also visited and presented gifts to Vietnamese Heroic Mother Nguyen Thi Ty in Dan Phuong district and relatives of martyrs from Warehouse K834.
* General Department of Logistics, on July 24th, held a get-together for Heroes of People’s Armed Forces, wounded soldiers and martyrs’ relatives who are working at the General Department. Addressing the meeting, Lieutenant-General Nguyen Vinh Phu, Director of the General Department of Logistics, stressed that over the past years, the Department received about VND 9 billion for the “Gratitude” fund and built 67 houses of gratitude for social beneficiaries.
Also on the occasion, the General Department presented gifts to 197 wounded soldiers, martyrs’ relatives and Heroes of People’s Armed Forces.

Children visit exhibition, “Ten years of collecting sets of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers in Cambodia”.

* On July 23rd, the Party Commission and People’s Committee of Quang Nam province presented a certificate to recognize the house of Vietnamese Heroic Mother Nguyen Thi Thu in Rung village, Thanh Quyt hamlet, Dien Thang Trung commune, Dien Bien district as a provincial historical relic. Vietnamese Heroic Mother Nguyen Thi Thu had 12 children and grandchildren who died in wars against invaders. And one of her daughters was also wounded in wartime. The house, located on an area of 3,500-sq.m., was once a secret refuge for cadres, troops and guerilla during wars against invaders. At present, the house is a place to display exhibits and souvenirs of the family.
* On July 24th, the People’s Committee of Khanh Hoa province held a ceremony to praise 187 excellent colectives and individuals, including wounded soldiers, martyrs’ relatives and those who actively participated in activities for wounded soldiers and martyrs.
At the ceremony, the Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee presented Certificates of Merit by the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to five individuals and Certificates of Merit by the province to seven groups and ten individuals. The Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs presented Certificates of Merit to eight groups and ten individuals who actively took part in activities to take care those who had rendered good services to the nation.
* The Ministry of Education and Training on July 24th held a ceremony at Dong Loc T-Junction to hand over a structure of ten statues of ten martyrs to Ha Tinh province. The structure includes an area for statues, a park, and home-made bomb craters, as part of activities to pay tribute to martyrs who died at Dong Loc T-Junction.
* The Military Command of Tay Ninh province recently launched an emulation movement, “15 days and nights to return to the roots”. The movement raised funds to build two houses of gratitude for wounded soldiers and martyrs’ families as well as to visit and present gifts to 78 needy social beneficiaries. The unit also mobilized other civilian units to provide free health check-ups and medicines to social beneficiaries and needy people.
* On July 24th, an infirmary from Military Command of Hung Yen province gave free health check-ups and medicines to social beneficiaries, including martyrs’ relatives, wounded and sick soldiers and Agent Orange victims in Lien Phuong commune, Hung Yen City. This is part of meaningful activities of troops in Hung Yen province to mark the 65th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day as well as to promote Vietnamese people’s tradition, “When drinking water, remember who dug the well”.
* Also on July 24th, Division 968, under Military Zone 4, visited and presented gifts to social beneficiaries, including Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, wounded soldiers’ families, sick soldiers, martyrs’ relatives and those who had rendered good services to the nation in Dong Ha City, Quang Tri province. Previously, the Division’s commanders and troops laid wreaths at the National Martyrs’ Cemeteries of Road 9 and Truong Son and martyrs’ cemetery in Quang Tri Town.
* Recently, Division 304, under Army Corps 2, sent a working delegation to survey and find sets of remains of martyrs. After one month, the delegation found 259 graves of martyrs. The delegation is now working with Military Command of Quang Tri province and Military Department of Dak Rong district to find sets of remains of martyrs in Ta Long.
* On the occasion of the 65th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day and the 45th anniversaries of Vietnam-Cambodia diplomatic ties, the Southeastern Armed Forces Museum and Department of Politics of Military Zone 7 opened an exhibition, “Ten years of collecting sets of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers in Cambodia”.
On displayed are 256 exhibits and 126 photos of activities to find sets of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers in Cambodia. After being displayed at the museum, the exhibition will be introduced in many units, localities and schools in Ho Chi Minh City.
