The Thailand Consumer Fair and Songkran Water Festival were held simultaneously at the Nguyen Du Club, in HCM City, on April 19.

More than 75 Vietnamese and Thai businesses are showcasing their products at over 100 exhibition pavilions, at the four-day fair.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Thai Trade Minister, Krizk Krai Jirapaet noted that the annual fair aims to link Thai manufacturers with Vietnamese consumers.

Pointing to the successes of the fair in introducing Thai goods to Viet Nam, Thailand's HCM City Consul General, Songpong Sanguabun said export revenues from Thailand to Viet Nam rose to more than 3 trillion VND (187.5 million USD) for 2006.

Thai culture and the traditional New Year Festival (Songkran) will also be featured. A Royal Thai dance troupe are slated to perform and Thai food from restaurants around HCM City will also be on offer to attendees.
