Customers should stop using Samsung Galaxy Note 7 immediately, said the Vietnam Competition Authority under the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

According to the agency, Samsung Galaxy Note 7 owners should contact the Samsung Vina Company via the hotline 1800 588889 or Samsung’s customer centres to swap their phones for safe ones.

Other consultation services are also available on the free-of-charge hotline 1800 6838.

Early this month, the agency received reports on explosions relating to the smartphone due to its battery errors. It then had a working session with representatives from Samsung Group and Samsung Vina Company to clarify the information.

According to Samsung Vina Company, the swap programme was applied for 12,633 handsets sold in the domestic market from August 19 to September 7.

The smartphone maker from the Republic of Korea launched Galaxy Note 7 in early August. Over 2.5 million sets have been sold in 10 markets worldwide.

However, following reports of 35 explosions due to the phone’s faulty battery, sales of the phone was suspended on September 2 and recalling started in the US.
