Major General Doan Xuan Bo, Editor-in-Chief of the People's Army Newspaper, head of the contest organizing panel, speaks at a press conference held on April 24 to introduce the awards ceremony.

According to the organizers, the second edition drew the participation of more writers, including famous scientists such as high-ranking expert Prof., Dr. Hoang Chi Bao, and Prof., Dr. Nguyen Trong Chuan, who is vice president of the Vietnam Philosophers’ Association. Attentively, a number of managers at all levels, chains-of-command of military agencies, units, and schools have also sent writings to the contest. Notably, the organizers received an entry entitled “The truth about Victory Day May 9 cannot be distorted” from Russian Ambassador to Vietnam G.S. Bezdetko, which was posted on the Vietnam People’s Army Newspaper’s daily publication last May 9.

In this contest, the entries continue to analyze and make clear theoretical issues on socialism and Vietnam’s path to socialism; protect and affirm good traditional values of the Communist Party of Vietnam. In addition, many entries have in-depth analyses and help identify and fight against wrong views on such issues as the historical mission of the working class; socialist law-governed state; civil society; the all-people’s ownership of land; socialist-oriented market economy; the policy on Vietnamese guest workers; spirit of preferring foreign product consumption; and taking advantage of literary-artistic compositions to distort the history of the revolution.

It is worth noting that many writings have actively contributed to raising public awareness of Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh’s thought as the core values of the Vietnamese Party’s ideology. They have effectively fought against incorrect, malicious, inimical information on social media that distorts Vietnamese Party and State’s anti-corruption fight; denies the political system’s efforts in ensuring human rights and freedom of religion in the country; incites workers to go on strike; distorts the "Four Nos" defense policy of the Vietnamese State; misrepresents Vietnamese military troops’ undertaking international duties and the implementation of the Law on Military Service, among others.

Higher number of entries on criticizing manifestations of degradation in political thought, morality, lifestyle, signs of "self-evolution," "self-transformation," have been also recorded.

The increase in the number of authors and high-quality entries is a vivid testament to the social effects of the contest whose topic is challenging for writers.

Regarding the contest, Dr. Nguyen Cong Dung, Permanent Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Communist Party of Vietnam Online Newspaper, deputy head of the jury board of the qualifying round highlighted the event, saying that it is a practical and humane job in the fight to defend the truth, the rightness, and the belief in the Communist Party of Vietnam.

The top winner of the first edition

Given that the struggle to protect the ideological foundation of the Party and criticize wrongful and inimical views is very complicated and drastic, journalist Ho Quang Loi, former permanent deputy head of the Vietnam Journalists’ Association, underlined the significance of the contest, making meaningful contribution to a very important issue of protecting the most fundamental values of the Vietnamese Party.

At a press conference held on April 24 in Hanoi, the organizers informed that the awards ceremony will take place on the evening of April 26 at the Hanoi Opera House. Thirty top entries will be awarded. Three press agencies with the most entries will be rewarded as well.
