The meeting focused on the two anti-corruption initiatives proposed by the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Justice, which aim to more effectively prevent negative phenomena in judicial affairs and assistance. At the meeting, participants proposed that specific measures should be devised and that corrupt practices should be duly detected and strictly punished. That is because negative practices in the judicial sector are “hard to be uncovered” and if no strict penalties are applied, the practices may continue.
Concluding the meeting, President Truong Tan Sang reaffirmed the determination to build a strong and healthy judicial sector to protect equality and human rights as well as the legitimate rights and interests of the State and people. He also stressed that high-ranking officials should raise their sense of responsibility in fighting negative phenomena in judicial performance and assistance.
The president noted that the steering committee would include important and essential contents of the initiatives requiring further guidelines from the Politburo in the sector's five-year summary report that will later be submitted to the Politburo.
