33 billion USD to build north-south high-speed railway

Vietnamese Prime Minister has approved the north-south high speed railway project, said Nguyen Huu Bang, Director General of the Vietnam Railway Corporation.
The route will start at the Ngoc Hoi station in Hanoi and end at the An Binh in Binh Duong province with the total length of 1,630km. It also calls at other major stations including Thanh Hoa, Vinh, Dong Hoi, Hue, Da Nang, Dieu Tri, Nha Trang, Phan Thiet. It is estimated that the project will cost $33bil in total, according to Mr. Bang.
70% of the cost will be funded by the Government and the rest comes from the VRC’s loans from investors. The major source is expected to come from the Japanese government.
