Leading Chinese media outlets such as Xinhua News Agency, People’s Daily, and China Central Television (CCTV) reported extensively on the 14th National Party Congress. The reports noted that the Congress is tasked with reviewing the implementation of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress in conjunction with a comprehensive assessment of 40 years of Doi moi (Renewal). It will also affirm major achievements, identify shortcomings and weaknesses along with their causes, and draw key lessons of long-term theoretical and practical significance for national development.
The congress is also expected to discuss and adopt orientations, objectives, and key breakthrough tasks for the 2026–2030 period with a vision to 2045, conduct a thorough review of the Party and political system building, and elect the 14th Central Committee of the CPV.
Chinese media further highlighted that in preparing Congress documents, the CPV integrated the Political Report, the Socio-economic Report, and the Review Report on the Party building into a single and unified draft Political Report. For the first time, the Political Report has been structured as an action program, clearly defining specific tasks, timelines and responsibilities. The draft was widely circulated for public consultation and received nearly 14 million comments from across society.
Meanwhile, Singaporean media outlets such as The Straits Times and CNA focused on Vietnam’s commitment to achieving 10% economic growth in the remaining years of this decade, despite intertwined difficulties and challenges. These include natural disasters, storms and floods, epidemics, traditional and non-traditional security risks, intensifying strategic competition, disruptions to supply chains, energy and food security, as well as protracted internal constraints.
The reports also underscored the Vietnamese leadership’s pledges to develop climate-resilient infrastructure and ensure strong connectivity within and between regions, as well as globally, noting that these efforts have helped support the country’s economic growth.
In Malaysia, the news portal Free Malaysia Today highlighted Vietnam’s commitments to reform and reduce cumbersome administrative procedures in order to promote technological development and expand global trade while safeguarding national independence and interests.
Earlier, in its coverage of the 14th National Party Congress, ABC News described the event as Vietnam’s most important political conference since it will determine the country’s leadership and overall policy direction for the next five years. The outlet also noted that Vietnam’s ambition to become a high-income country by 2045 will shape its political and economic trajectory as well as its international standing.
