Addressing the ceremony, the minister hailed the efforts the ambassador has made over the past three years, contributing to developing cooperation between the two nations, particularly in economics-trade.
She affirmed that Vietnam plays an important role in boosting the collaboration between the Latin American regional economic bloc (Mercosur), including Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay, and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
The honor reflects the special attention the government of President Mauricio Macri pays to relations with Vietnam, she reiterated.
For his part, the Vietnamese diplomat expressed his honor to receive the Order and extended thanks for the support the Government and people of Argentina have offered to him over the past three years.
He pledged to continue contributing to developing the friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
Two-way trade between Vietnam and Argentina has doubled over the past four years, exceeding USD 3 billion in 2016, with Vietnam the sixth biggest trade partner of Argentina, climbing from the 70th in 2000.
The Order of May is Argentina’s highest honor for the contributions foreigners make to the nation’s international relations.
