PANO - Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Vu Hong Nam on January 12th in Hanoi presented the Vietnamese State’s Friendship Order to Algerian Ambassador Cherif Chikhi to Vietnam in recognition of his active contributions to developing the two countries’ friendships and long-term cooperation during his five-year term of office in the country.

Addressing the ceremony, Nam highlighted the fruitful friendship between Vietnam and Algeria in the fields of politics, trade, investment and labour and confirmed that the State of Vietnam highly appreciated the role and the contribution of Ambassador to boosting the two people’s mutual understanding and cooperation.

For his part, Ambassador Cherif Chikhi expressed his honor receiving the noble order and considered it an example for the firm and flourishing friendship between Vietnamese people and the Algerian people.

The ambassador also pledged to further contribute to the two countries’ friendship.

On the afternoon the same day, the ambassador received the insignia “For peace and friendship among nations” by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations. The badge is in recognition of the ambassador’s contribution to the enhancement of friendship between Vietnam and Algeria in particular and between the Vietnamese people and African people in general.

Over the past years, the ambassador has actively and closely coordinated with the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, the Vietnam-Africa Friendship Organization and the Vietnam-Algeria Friendship Organization to organize a number of activities as photo exhibitions and film screening, providing valuable historical documents on the liberation movements in Asian-African nations for Vietnamese students.
