Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hoi, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam - Canada Friendship Association, hands over the decision on the launching the Vietnamese Alumni Club in Canada.

The club is seen as a place for Vietnamese students who used to, are and will study in Canada to gather and exchange experience, contributing to strengthening their close relationship and elevating the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Canada, especially cooperation in education.

At the event, Mr. Pham Cao Phong, Vietnamese Ambassador to Canada, congratulated the club on its official launch in Canada, adding that the Vietnamese Embassy in Canada would pay more attention to bringing Vietnamese students and alumni in Canada together.

Also, he hoped that the club and its members would promote their creativity and capability to implement the set initiatives and plans in an effective manner.

For his part, Mr. Shawn Perry Steil, Canadian Ambassador to Vietnam, shared that Canada has received many talented Vietnamese students over the past years. Vietnam ranks first in Southeast Asia and fifth globally as a source country for international students in Canada. Especially, Vietnam is also the ASEAN’s country member receiving the most Canada-ASEAN Scholarships and Educational Exchanges for Development (SEED).

Towards the 5th anniversary of the comprehensive partnership and the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic ties between the two countries, the Canadian Ambassador expressed his hope that Vietnamese students would choose Canada to study and Vietnamese alumni would share experiences about Canada with their families, friends and colleagues.
