Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan has visited the Vietnamese Embassy and met the Vietnamese community in Malaysia following her attendance at the 2013 Global Summit of Women there.
At the meeting, the Vice President highly valued the embassy’s efforts in implementing the Party and State’s guidelines and policies and went through main features of the country’s current security, political, socio-economic and foreign affairs.
Vice President Doan asked the embassy’s staff to do more for the friendship as well as cooperation between Vietnam and Malaysia, particularly in trade, investment, labour supply and petroleum.
The embassy should support Vietnamese guest workers and protect their legitimate rights, she noted.
She also asked the Vietnamese community to strengthen their solidarity and try their best in working and studying, contributing to the two countries’ increasing relations and cooperation.
Earlier, Vice President Doan participated in the 2013 Global Summit of Women (GSW) from June 6-8.
This year’s event, themed “Women: Creating New Economies” highlighted the significant contributions women have made to restructure the economies and change the markets.
The Vietnamese delegation shared experience, gave opinions on GSW topics and examined ways to promote international cooperation for the advancement of women in various fields.
