SCOVA unveils OV lineup for upcoming major celebrations
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs' State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs (SCOVA) has unveiled a lineup of activities for overseas Vietnamese (OVs) from April 3-4, ahead of the Hung Kings Temple Festival - one of the country’s largest cultural and religious celebrations honouring its legendary founders.
Talking with the press, SCOVA Vice Chairman Nguyen Manh Dong said the OV delegation will offer incense and attend a tribute ceremony at the temple, meet with leaders of Phu Tho province, hold a working session with the provincial People’s Committee, tour Tan Trao historic site, distribute charity gifts to local communities, and connect with OV families resettled from Thailand.

The SCOVA, alongside the Vietnam People’s Navy and relevant agencies, will ferry OVs to Truong Sa island district and DK1 platforms in April. Since 2012, they have brought 1,000 OVs to the remote outposts to experience firsthand their unique environment and significance.
Ahead of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification on April 30, the ministry will team up with the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee for OV-focused events.
A formal ceremony will see 120 OV delegates march in a parade, with 200 more in the stands.
Leading up to the event, they will pay their respects at the Ben Duoc - Cu Chi memorial site and the Cu Chi tunnels, visit families of revolution contributors, and honor distinguished OVs.
