Troops wholeheartedly support natural disaster-hit victims
PANO - On June 7 and 8, Lai Chau province experienced moderate to heavy rain, with some areas recording extremely heavy downpours.
Soil moisture levels in some districts of the province have reached near saturation (over 80%) or are already fully saturated. Continued heavy rainfall is forecast, raising the risk of localized flooding and landslides. In Ban Giang Commune, Tam Duong District, a downpour of 162.2 mm caused localized flooding, affecting around 100 households.

In response, after receiving a report from the Tam Duong District Military Command, the Lai Chau Provincial Military Command informed higher authorities and mobilized over 30 regular officers along with hundreds of local militiamen. These forces, equipped with motorboats and other essential tools, coordinated with local authorities and functional units to evacuate residents and their belongings to safety. They also actively informed local communities about the risks and safety measures to ensure public awareness and compliance with safety protocols.

As the lead agency for flood and storm prevention and rescue, the Lai Chau Provincial Military Command has worked closely with provincial departments, stationed military units, and other relevant agencies to mobilize personnel and equipment for flood prevention, search and rescue, and disaster response. This collaborative effort aims to ensure a timely response, minimize damage caused by flooding, and support accurate monitoring and forecasting of weather conditions.
