Troops help people overcome disaster consequences
PANO - Prolonged heavy rains from November 17 to 18 wreaked havoc in Nha Trang city (Khanh Hoa province).
Flood water submerged a number of roads in Nha Trang city and disrupted railways. The rains also caused landslides in residential areas and damaged public buildings and killed many people. Le Duc Vinh, Chairman of Khanh Hoa provincial People's Committee asked forces to evacuate locals to safer places.
In response to the request, the Signal Officer Training School, the Air Force Officer Training School, and the Vietnam Naval Academy mobilized nearly 400 troops to participate in search and rescue missions and repair roads.
"Military troops in collaboration with other forces quickly evacuated 350 households with 1,400 people in Phuoc Dong commune to safer places," said Senior Colonel Ngo QuangTrung, Commander of the Khanh Hoa provincial Military Command.
