According to the Search and Rescue Department under the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, two landslides occurred in Yen Dinh and Thanh Mai communes in Cho Moi district, Bac Can province on August 29, leaving one person injured and a house damaged. The province mobilized local forces to support the victims.

Earlier, on August 28, heavy rains in Nam Po, Muong Cha, Tuan Giao and Tua Bien district of Dien Bien province had caused floods and landslides, damaging 35 houses, swept away one suspension bridge, and submerged 52.5ha of rice and other farm crops.

Floods also brought about landslides on National Highways 4H and 6 in Cha Nua commune, Nam Po district and Mun Chun commune, Tuan Giao district of Dien Bien province, causing hours-long traffic tie-up. Accordingly, 50 local troops and militiamen were deployed to help overcome the consequences and evacuate 18 households to safe areas.

Meanwhile, 15 soldiers and 20 militiamen were mobilized for rescue and relief missions in Van Mai commune of Mai Chau district, Hoa Binh province, where a landslide on the afternoon of August 28, ruined a house and claimed the life of one person.
