According to the National Committee for Incident, Disaster Response, and Search and Rescue, as of 4p.m. on September 4, the eye of the storm was at about 19.2 degrees North latitude, 117.2 degrees East longitude, in the Northeastern area of the East Sea. The maximum wind speed near the center of the storm was at Level 12 and 13 (118-149km/h), with gusts reaching Level 16. The typhoon is forecast to keep moving West-Northwest at about 5-10km per hour.

In the next 24 hours, the eye is expected to be at approximately 19.5 degrees North latitude and 114.7 degrees East longitude, about 400km east of Hainan Island (China). The maximum wind speed near the center of the typhoon is expected to reach Level 14, with gusts at Level 17. The disaster risk is at Level 4.

In response, the National Committee for Incident, Disaster Response, and Search and Rescue is urging authorities, agencies and units to prepare for the typhoon. Accordingly, they must strictly maintain rescue and emergency response duties, regularly update on the storm’s developments, develop plans and scenarios, and prepare human resources and vehicles to respond promptly and effectively to any circumstances while ensuring their own safety.

Border troops in provinces and cities in the coastal region from Quang Ninh to Phu Yen continue to coordinate with local authorities, households, and ship owners to update them with the latest developments of Typhoon Yagi, and guide fishermen to evacuate to safe areas.

Regarding forces and vehicles, military units are keeping their troops on duty and mobilized the militia and self-defense forces, and reservists to join the regular force in disaster response if requested.

Specifically, Military Region 1 (MR1) has mobilized over 44,500 people and 707 vehicles (including various types of automobiles, specialized vehicles, and watercraft); MR2, over 73,600 people and 2,301 vehicles; MR3, over 50,800 people and 570 vehicles; MR4, nearly 152,000 people and 1,380 vehicles; MR5, over 54,500 people and 1,322 vehicles. The Navy has mobilized over 1,200 troops and 169 vehicles while the Air Defense - Air Force Service has mobilized 3,500 troops and 44 vehicles, including eight  aircraft.

In addition, there are forces and vehicles from the Vietnam Border Guard and Vietnam Coast Guard Commands, and other units in the whole military who are on strict duties and ready to respond to Typhoon Yagi.
