Rear Admiral Tuan affirmed the naval forces’ pride of accompanying fishermen in offshore fishing and in safeguarding national maritime sovereignty. He stressed that supporting and assisting people is a mission from the heart of every servicemember. “Every fisherman is a fighter; every fishing vessel is a sovereignty marker, contributing to the all-people defense posture coupled with people’s security posture at sea,” the senior officer said. He encouraged fishermen to stay confident in going offshore to develop economy, improve living standards, and build their homeland.

With contributions from enterprises and organizations, the Naval Region 4 Command offered 200 national flags, 100 life buoys, 300 life jackets, two TV sets, 130 gift packages, including rice, instant noodles, and milk, for disadvantaged fishermen’s families, and 10 bicycles for students from needy fishing households with good academic records.

The program, held annually by the Naval Region 4 Command and South-Central coastal localities, contributed to improving maritime law dissemination quality, supporting fishermen in safe, lawful fishing, and strengthening the bond between naval forces and fishermen.
