More care for AO victims
PANO - On July 16 in Hanoi, a delegation of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, led by Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, visited and presented gifts to the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange (AO)/Dioxin (VAVA).
Addressing the event, VAVA Chairman Lieutenant General Nguyen Huu Chinh noted that in the first half of 2024, the association actively implemented the Resolution of the fifth Congress of the VAVA, overcame difficulties to fulfill all targets for the first six months. It also made recommendations to the Party, State, and local authorities to ensure policies for AO victims.

Addressing the event, General Chien hailed the association’s achievements over the past time, wishing them good health and hoped that the VAVA’s members would overcome difficulties to soon stabilize their life.
He affirmed that the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense are always well aware of the importance of policy work and gratitude activities, affirming that this was a good occasion to cultivate patriotism and responsibility towards society for troops in the whole military, contributing to the cause of national construction and protection in the current context.

He also requested the VAVA to continue conducting dissemination work to raise public awareness, and mobilize the support of international friends in fighting for justice for AO victims. It should also call on sponsors inside and outside the country to bring a better life to AO/dioxin victims.
* On the same day, a program was launched by the VAVA, the national humanitarian portal, and MBBank's charity app., to aid Vietnamese AO victims.
Accordingly, VAVA is encouraging donations through QR code scanning and transfers to account number 1961 at MBBank, or via QR code using the VTC e-wallet. This year, it aims to raise over VND 2 billion, which will be used to support medical examination and treatment and rehabilitation for victims; provide capital for production and housing needs; and assist families of AO victims facing extreme hardships.
