Military units support Bac Giang in fighting COVID-19
PANO - Medical personnel from Central Military Hospital 108, Military Medical University, and the Vietnam-Russia Tropical Center are currently taking COVID-19 samples in the northern province of Bac Giang – a COVID-19 epicenter.
An ICU center is being set up at Bac Giang provincial Lung Hospital with doctors from Bach Mai Hospital and Central Military Hospital 108. Four medical teams are ready to receive and treat patients. The center has 210 beds, including 50 ICU beds for patients in critical conditions.

Meanwhile, 100 personnel from the Military Medical University are working at a COVID-19 testing establishment run by the university in the province. The testing establishment is able to test 10,000 samples per day, according to Lieutenant Colonel Ho Huu Tho, Head of the Department of Gene Technology and Cell Genetics of the Military Medical Research Institute of the university.
On a testing vehicle from the Vietnam-Russia Tropical Center placed at Regiment 831, a mission from the Vietnam-Russia Tropical Center, led by Colonel Hoang Duc Hau, Director of the Center for Hi-Tech Research and Treatment received 9,339 COVID-19 samples from May 16 to 16:30 on May 20.
The mission has already tested over 7,200 samples and found 20 positive SARS-CoV-2 samples. At present, the health workers from the Vietnam-Russia Tropical Center in Hanoi and the testing vehicle in Bac Giang province are working around the clock to get testing results as soon as possible.
