In the resistance wars for national salvation, the GDL had more than 11,800 martyrs, over 7,560 wounded soldiers and over 2,100 sick ones.
Over the past time, the general department has comprehensively and effectively carried out policies for troops’ families and numerous gratitude activities.
Since 2010, its affiliates have taken care of 28 Vietnamese heroic mothers, brought up 45 children of martyrs, sick and wounded soldiers, created jobs for nearly 500 martyrs’ children, built 470 gratitude and comradeship houses, and contributed tens of billions of VND to the gratitude fund.
They have also provided free health checkups, health consultation and medicines to 25,000 policy beneficiaries and completed over 11,770 dossiers on martyrs.
Addressing the meeting, Gen. Trung expressed deep gratitude to national contributors and recognized the contributions of its affiliates in gratitude activities.
Gen. Trung also called on agencies, units, businesses, troops and workers of the GDL to better the policy for troops’ families and gratitude activities.
He hoped that the wounded soldiers and martyrs’ relatives working for the GDL continue bringing into play the revolutionary tradition, setting bright examples, overcoming difficulties and building happy lives.
