Defense ministry gathers retired senior officers
PANO – The Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense held a meeting on Jan. 12 to gather retired senior military leaders at the Defense Ministry’s conference hall.
The meeting was also virtually connected to other meetings of retired high-ranking officers held at Military Regions 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, and 9 and the Hanoi Capital Military Command.

At the event, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission and Defense Minister General Ngo Xuan Lich briefed delegates on international and regional situations, results of all-level military Party congresses and outstanding achievements during military-defense missions in 2015-2020.
He affirmed that the military has been a key force in various missions, particularly in the fight against the complicated development of the COVID-19 pandemic and providing relief for disaster-hit people across the country.
The defense minister also informed delegates about the building process of the whole-people defense posture and the people’s army as well as the results of external defense activities over the past time.
He underlined that the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense has always treasured the contributions of former senior officers, adding that their opinions and experiences are significant to the national defense and construction cause as well as military force building.
General Lich hoped that the former senior officers will continue promoting the traditions of Uncle Ho’s soldiers and contributing more to the Party’s revolutionary cause.
On behalf of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, he extended his best wishes to the retired senior officers and their families on the occasion of Tet (Lunar New Year).
