The patient, Vu Van Thanh, born in 1976 and an employee of Tam An Transport Company, had been receiving emergency care at Truong Sa Infirmary. A remote consultation with Military Hospital 175 confirmed that the patient was suffering from septic shock originating from gastrointestinal infections, accompanied by multiple organ dysfunction syndrome. The severity of his condition exceeded the infirmary's treatment capacity.

The patient being transported to the mainland for emergency treatment

Following orders from higher authorities, at 12:30p.m. on January 21, the Southern Vietnam Helicopter Company deployed the EC225 helicopter along with its flight crew to collaborate with an air emergency team from Military Hospital 175 to conduct the mission. The helicopter took off from Vung Tau Airport and headed to Truong Sa Island.

At 4:00p.m., the helicopter landed on Truong Sa Island, where the air emergency team quickly stabilized the patient and transferred him to the helicopter for transport to the mainland.

The helicopter then safely landed at the helipad of the Orthopedics and Trauma Institute of Military Hospital 175. The patient was immediately transferred to the Emergency Department for further treatment.

The successful air emergency transportation once again highlighted the dedication and professionalism of officers and soldiers of Corps 18, reinforcing trust and confidence among fishermen and personnel operating at sea.
