Critical patient airlifted from Truong Sa Island to mainland
PANO - On January 21, an EC225 helicopter, numbered VN-8619 and operated by the Southern Vietnam Helicopter Company (part of the Vietnam Helicopter Corporation, also known as Corps 18), successfully transported a critically ill patient from Truong Sa (Spratly) Island to Military Hospital 175 for emergency treatment.
The patient, Vu Van Thanh, born in 1976 and an employee of Tam An Transport Company, had been receiving emergency care at Truong Sa Infirmary. A remote consultation with Military Hospital 175 confirmed that the patient was suffering from septic shock originating from gastrointestinal infections, accompanied by multiple organ dysfunction syndrome. The severity of his condition exceeded the infirmary's treatment capacity.
