In the 2016-2017 academic year, among 33 sponsored students graduating from high schools, seven reached the benchmarks to enter universities. Meanwhile, in the 2017-2018 school year, 19 out of 33 graduates of high schools enrolled in universities or colleges. However, two graduates could not continue their study at universities as their families could not afford the costs.
The border guards of the provinces of Ha Giang, Son La, Dak Nong, Kon Tum, Cao Bang, Lai Chau, Ninh Thuan, Kien Giang, Ca Mau, Thua Thien - Hue, Hai Phong city and Ho Chi Minh City are exemplary models in implementing the program.
This year, the Son La Provincial Border Guard Command teamed up with the provincial Youth Union chapter to organize a military semester for 57 sponsored students.
During the semester, the students participated in meaningful activities, such as visiting the capital city of Hanoi, meeting with and receiving gifts from the leadership of the Committee on Ethnic Minority Affairs, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee, and the Vietnam Border Guard Command.
