According to Senior Colonel Ton Quoc Khanh, Da Nang Border Guard Commander, at 02:00 on July 14, while fishing 24 nautical miles off Da Nang, trawler DNa 90873 owned by Mai Thi Em in Thanh Khe Dong ward, Thanh Khe district, the central city of Da Nang, went adrift due to engine failure. After one day running adrift and struggling against high waves and strong winds, Captain Le Van Thanh called the Phu Loc Border Post for rescue.

Having reported on the case by the Phu Loc Border Post, the Da Nang Border Guard Command immediately dispatched ship BP081202 for a rescue mission.

At 10:45 on July 15, ship BP081202 approached the distressed trawler and towed it ashore. At 15:00 the same day, the ship docked at Flotilla 2’s port. All fishermen’s health was in a good condition.

* Also, on July 15, sinking trawler NT-02000 TS was salvaged successfully by two ships from Con Dao Border Post 540 of the Ba Ria-Vung Tau Border Guard.

Earlier, at about 08:00 on July 14, the trawler with nine crewmen on board was sinking due to strong winds and rough sea while on its way to the shore, some 5 nautical miles off a new wharf in Con Son bay.

Upon receiving the information, Con Dao Border Post 540 sent two ships to the scene for rescue. After more than one hour of struggling with high sea, the rescue team successfully saved seven fishermen and took them ashore. In the afternoon, divers found a dead fisherman stuck in the cabin of the trawler.

At present, the rescue team and other local functional forces are still searching the missing.
