Art program celebrating Lunar New Year Festival opens at national historical site
PANO - On Feb. 1, the Binh Phuoc provincial People’s Committee, Army Corps 16, the Military Broadcasting Center and the Saigon People Join Stock Company opened an art program themed “Xuan ve noi bien cuong To quoc” (Here comes Spring in national border areas) at the national special historical site in Loc Thanh commune, Binh Phuoc province.
Present at the program were Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Nghia, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army; Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Cung, former Deputy Defense Minister; local leaders, and nearly 2,000 troops and people in the area.
Prior to the program, Army Corps 16 held various activities to welcome Tet (Lunar New Year Festival) for troops and locals. Its Regiments of 719, 726 and 720 launched “Chung cake” making contests to present the cakes to policy families, offered free health checkups and medicines to needy people, and so on.
The art program is a meaningful and practical activity in praise of the image of Uncle Ho’s soldiers, contributing to taking care of local disadvantaged households and building military-civilian solidarity.
