Armed forces continue support for flood-hit victims
PANO - As many as 25,523 people were involved in assisting flood-hit victims in the North and North Central region in overcoming the flooding aftermaths as of October 13, according to the Office of the National Committee on Incident, Disaster Response and Search and Rescue.

Among them are 6,962 troops and 10,158 militiamen, while 325 vehicles were also mobilized to help the victims.
As a result, 17,563 households were evacuated to safe areas, 10 people were saved from isolated areas, 17 tons of rice, one ton of dry rations and one ton of instant noodles were transported to areas devastated by the floods. Furthermore, reinforcement works were carried out on 1,200 meters of dykes.
Specifically, on October 13, nearly 4,000 troops from Division 316, Engineer Brigade 543, the Military Commands of Son La, Yen Bai, Dien Bien and Phu Tho provinces together with hundreds of vehicles, automobiles, specialized vehicles and canoes promptly helped evacuate locals from risky areas and overcome flooding consequences, especially following the recession of the floods.
Meanwhile, the Command of Military Region 2 continued to maintain four missions to direct the relief work in key areas.
Earlier, on October 12, more than 100 cadets of the Military School of Army Corps 1 marched to localities in Yen Mo district, Ninh Binh province to help the locals harvest crops and farm produce which were inundated by flood water to minimize damages and to ensure safety to humans as well as property.
