PANO - Politburo member and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan on December 4th led a mission to pay a working visit to Submarine Brigade 189, Naval Region 4.
The mission was informed of the unit’s outstanding achievements over the past time especially in the training and combat readiness tasks to firmly defend national sovereignty over its seas and islands as well as in the mastering equipment, by Captain Tran Thanh Nghiem, the unit’s commander.
VFF President Nguyen Thien Nhan highly appreciated the unit’s good results since its foundation and hoped that it would surmount difficulties to fulfil its missions assigned by the Party, the State, the Army and people. He also asked the unit to further master modern weapons and equipment, heighten vigilance, promote combat readiness and actively contribute to building a regular, elite and modern navy of Vietnam.
On the occasion, Nhan visited the HQ-183 Ho Chi Minh City, a submarine, and presented the brigade with VND 100 million.
Earlier, the mission inquired after and gave gifts to war-invalid Ha Van Do in Van Long commune, Van Ninh district, Khanh Hoa province and the family of the 89 year-old heroic mother Pham Thi Tra. Moreover, it offered VND 600 million to Mai Thanh Phuc and Le Tuan Hiep in Thanh Dat village, Phuoc Dong commune, Nha Trang city to assist them in building trawlers and holding onto Truong Sa fishing ground.
