On January 2, 570 troops from Regiment 165 of Army Corps 1’s Division 312 teamed with other people from the Hanoi and Soc Son district’s protective forest management boards, Bac Son and Minh Tri communes’ cadres and people, and local policemen to create firebreaks around hills 292 and 166.7 in Bac Son commune to prevent the fire, which broke out at 16:30 the same day, from spreading.

Troops try their best to stamp out the fire

Due to dry weather and strong winds, the blaze spread to hill 320. However, with high determination and close coordination, the joint forces successfully extinguished the forest fire at dawn on January 3. All participating people and equipment safely completed the mission.

Ten hectares of the forest were destroyed.

* Also at 20:00 on January 3, twenty troops from the Military Command of Ha Long city and nearly 100 local militiamen, cadres and people in Hung Thang ward, fire-fighting and police officers of Ha Long city, the border post of Hon Gai port border gate and Ha Long city forest management department stamped out a pine forest fire in Hung Thang ward, Ha Long city, Quang Ninh province.

Earlier, after being notified of the blaze, the joint forces promptly rushed to the scene and created firebreaks to prevent the fire from spreading. They tried their best to put the blaze under control. It was estimated that more than one hectare of the pine forest burned down.

The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
