Major General Nguyen Minh Hoang, Deputy Political Commissar of Military Region 7, directed the program which drew the participation of more than 2,600 troops, Youth Union members and workers in the region.

The program included a walk to raise money for the “Spring of solidarity - Tet (lunar New Year) in border areas” fund to present 1,000 gifts to border guards and people living in border areas, a dragon boat race for 16 teams, and a special artistic program.

During the event, the organizer granted scholarships to 20 children of officers, non-commissioned officers, and defense workers from the Ho Chi Minh Military Command, and presented 15 Tet gifts to affiliated units of Military Region 7. The Military Region 7 Command also received nearly VND 300 million from benefactors to care for troops and people from border areas and islands during the upcoming Tet Festival.

According to Senior Colonel Nguyen Cong Anh, Deputy Political Chief of Military Region 7, this significant program, the fifth of its kind, brings motivation to troops stationed in border areas, on islands, and local people. This year’s program aims to promote dissemination on activities of the military region and the care for troops undertaking missions in border areas and on islands and for policy families and other needy people living near militia watch points during Tet.

Apart from the program at Dam Sen Park, Military Region 7 will hold a similar program under the theme “Spring comes to beloved border areas” in Bu Dop district, Binh Phuoc province on January 10.
