Senior officers asked to contribute to CPV Central Committee’s eighth plenary session
PANO - General Ngo Xuan Lich, Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission and Defense Minister, chaired a meeting for senior military officers who are members of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) in Hanoi on October 1.

At the event, Senior Lieutenant General Luong Cuong, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA), briefed the participants on several major contents of the eighth plenary session of the 12th CPV Central Committee.
Accordingly, the session is slated to review the country’s socio-economic development, protection over national sovereignty, personnel work, among others.
General Lich underlined that, over the past time, the Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defense have actively made recommendations to the Party and State to issue instructions and policies related to the military-defense sector, making contributions to maintaining a peaceful and stable environment for national development.
The whole military has effectively disseminated the country’s Maritime Strategy, built up the whole people's defense posture at sea, promptly dealt with incidents at sea, and firmly protected the national territorial integrity over seas, islands and continental shelves, he added.
The Defense Minister requested the senior military officers to carefully study reports, voice their opinions for documents to be passed at the end of the session, contributing to the sitting’s success.
