PANO – The Central Security - National Defence Education Council together with the Vietnam Buddhism Academy in Ho Chi Minh City, opened a training course for more than 200 Buddhist followers of the Vietnam Buddhism Academy on March 7th.
Trainees are expected to study the Party’s and the State’s guidelines and policies on building the whole-nation defence and the people’s security and to prevent the moves of hostile forces to make use of religions and beliefs in an attempt to destroy the people’s revolutionary government.
They are also introduced to basic content of Land Law, the National Security Law and to the current socio-political situation in the surrounding localities. The content of the training course is closely linked to religious dignitaries’ responsibilities.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Lieutenant-General Nguyen Song Phi, Deputy-Chief of the General Staff, and member of the Standing Committee of the Central Security-National Defence Education Council stressed the importance of the national defence education for Buddhist followers.
He also asked the Military Zone 7 SNDE Council and Ho Chi Minh City together with the Vietnam Buddhism Academy to join efforts in organising similar courses.
