PANO – As one of the vanguard units in search, rescue, and disaster mitigation missions, troops of the Engineering Brigade 25 under Military Zone 9 have overcome difficulties and developed measures to master their equipment to successfully fulfill assigned missions, contributing to mitigating losses in lives and property for people.
The unit’s Commissar Senior Colonel Pham Van Thanh said that because most of the equipment and vehicles in the unit are imported and the troops’ experiences are limited, the unit had to work out effective measures to fully exploit them to fulfill assigned missions.

Particularly, the brigade’s qualified and responsible officers are assigned to compile training materials for troops under the assistance of foreign experts. In addition, the unit strengthened dissemination and education as well as encouraged its troops to promote training while ensuring absolute safety. As a result, sappers’ capability to conduct search and rescue missions in different environments has drastically improved.
Together with the efforts of the unit’s leaders, its officers promoted self-studying to master all the features of equipment and vehicles so as to be capable of carrying out the assigned missions with high quality.
With good professionalism, firm political stance and strong preparations, troops of Brigade 25 have obtained remarkable feats of arms in peacetime. In November 1997, the unit’s troops helped rebuild Ha Tien floating bridge which was damaged by the 5th storm of the year, and actively assisted locals to overcome the storm’s aftermath. Furthermore, in September 2007, the troops actively worked with other forces to rescue victims of the accident at the construction site of Can Tho Bridge.
