According to the report presented at the meeting, the two ministries effectively implemented the Party's directives, the State's policies and laws, and the Government's regulations on national defense and security during the first half of 2026. They maintained regular information exchanges, closely coordinated in monitoring, assessing, and forecasting situational developments, and jointly provided strategic recommendations for the Party and the State to issue important guidelines on political, economic, cultural, defense, security, and foreign affairs. The two ministries also responded effectively to emerging situations, preventing strategic surprises.
Cooperation in protecting territorial sovereignty, border, maritime, and island security, as well as maintaining political security and public order, remained strong, contributing to a peaceful and stable environment for national development. The Border Guard, Coast Guard, and public security forces jointly developed and carried out 215 operational plans to counter threats to national security, dismantling numerous transnational criminal networks, particularly those involved in drug trafficking, human trafficking, and organized crime.
The two ministries also intensified coordination to prevent illegal mass gatherings, riots, and terrorism while ensuring absolute security for major political and diplomatic events. During the first six months of the year, the two forces jointly safeguarded more than 3,000 activities involving senior Party and State leaders at home and abroad, provided security for 53 visiting international delegations and 50 major political and diplomatic events, and protected key national facilities and infrastructure.

In addition, they maintained close coordination in safeguarding national sovereignty and ensuring security and public order across border, sea, island, and cyberspace domains. The two ministries also worked together effectively in disease prevention and control, disaster response, firefighting, search and rescue, and other defense and security missions within their assigned responsibilities.
Concluding the conference, the leadership of both ministries directed their agencies and units to continue implementing the Party's and the State's strategies, resolutions, and policies on national defense and security while further strengthening information sharing, joint situational assessment, and strategic forecasting. They emphasized improving the quality of strategic advice through early and pro-active planning to ensure effective responses to emerging situations.

The ministries also called for closer coordination in safeguarding national security, maintaining public order, protecting territorial sovereignty and security in border areas, at sea, and on islands and ensuring the safety of critical facilities and infrastructure, thereby preserving political stability and creating a favorable environment for national development and the defense of the country.
The conference also stressed the importance of improving the legal framework governing coordination between the two ministries and among ministries, sectors, and local authorities in carrying out defense and security missions. Agencies and units were instructed to strengthen internal security, review and update operational and security plans, enhance coordination among forces, and improve readiness to respond effectively to any situation.
The two ministries further agreed to continue coordinating with local authorities to strengthen public awareness of national defense and security, reinforce the all-people national defense posture in conjunction with the people's security posture, improve mass mobilization efforts, and effectively implement social welfare and gratitude programs. Priority will also be given to the "500-day campaign to accelerate the search, recovery, and identification of the remains of fallen soldiers." Both ministries will maintain a high level of combat readiness while ensuring sufficient personnel, equipment, and contingency plans to respond to natural disasters, environmental incidents, and search and rescue operations.
