MR9 kicks off defensive area exercise in 2022 in Kien Giang province

The exercise’s theme was “Shifting armed forces to higher combat readiness postures, shifting localities to the national defense posture, and making preparation and conducting defensive operations.”

The event was to evaluate and improve command capacity of the local authorities and participating forces in mobilizing resources to protect national sovereignty over sea and islands; promote collaboration capabilities among participating forces in proactively and successfully responding to unexpected situations and maintaining political security and social safety in the locality.

The success of the exercise was expected to provide more experiences for local authorities and armed forces in MR9 to appropriately better their combat plans.

A view of the exercise

In his speech at the opening ceremony, Lieutenant General Nguyen Xuan Dat, Commanding Officer of MR9 Command, underlined that Kien Giang is endowed with a long land border line and coastal line. Thus, the exercise would further contribute to heightening vigilance and awareness of troops, officials and local people of the Party and State’s guidelines on safeguarding the Fatherland as well as of the importance of building up the strong defensive area in line with the Politburo’s resolutions and the Government’s decrees on this work.

Right after the launching ceremony, the exercise was conducted in different stages as scheduled.
