MND reviews implementation of defense industry missions
PANO – The Ministry of National Defense (MND) held a conference on August 17 to review the implementation of the Politburo’s resolution on building and developing the defense industry until 2020 and beyond. Deputy Defense Minister Vice Admiral Pham Hoai Nam chaired the conference.
Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics Senior Lieutenant General Do Can, Deputy Chief of the General Staff Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia and other representatives of the Steering Committee for the implementation of the Politburo's resolution on defense industry development attended the conference.
Reports delivered at the conference revealed that over the past decade, agencies and units under the General Department of Defense Industry have effectively implemented the Politburo’s Resolution No.6 on building and developing defense industry, and obtained significant achievements.
Speaking at the event, Vice Admiral Pham Hoai Nam spoke highly of the great efforts of the General Department of Defense Industry, the Office of the Central Military Commission (CMC). Over the past years, the units have worked closely with relevant agencies and units to make recommendations for the CMC to issue plans on developing the defense industry sector, including reviewing task performance of ministries, sectors, and localities and preparing a good draft report.
According to the deputy defense minister, the draft report highlighted the positive results gained, pointing out shortcomings and lessons learnt after the 10-year implementation of the resolution.
In addition, the draft report mapped out the orientation for missions and offered solutions to effectively implement the guidelines and policies of the Party, the State, and the CMC on building a revolutionary, regular, elite and gradually-modernized military, as well as developing defense industry toward 2030.
