MND meets with N.A. deputies in the military
PANO - Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Defense Minister General Nguyen Tan Cuong chaired a meeting of the Ministry of National Defense (MND) with National Assembly (N.A.) deputies in the military on May 4 in Hanoi, a day before the opening of the 9th session of the 15th N.A.
At the event, Deputy Chief of the General Staff Lt. Gen. Nguyen Trong Binh gave a briefing on regional and international situations related to the military and defense tasks, outcomes of the military-defense task performance, and observance of discipline and laws in recent times.

Delegates were also informed of the agenda of the 15th N.A.’s 9th session, draft laws to be opined or approved during the sitting, progress of draft laws compiled by the MND to be submitted to the N.A. for approval, draft laws whose dossiers are expected to be considered and other draft laws related to military and defense to be debated. Among them were the draft law on participation in U.N. peacekeeping forces and the draft law on state of emergency.
In his speech, Gen. Cuong emphasized that the 9th session will consider and make decisions on many important issues of the country. It is the session with huge workload. Therefore, he asked N.A. deputies in the military to participate in the sitting to promote sense of responsibility, exercise their role and authority, and give opinions during discussions.
The defense leader noted that their opinions should be well prepared with specified and clear contents, particularly on draft laws with direct attachment to the military.
He also requested them to set an example in observing the N.A.’s regulations, complying with rules of speaking and ensuring military secrets, and contributing to the success of the session.
