Since the beginning of this year, the military and public security forces have closely cooperated with each other and effectively carried out Decree 03 and given recommendations to the Party and State to deal with complicated defense and security issues to avoid being put in a passive or surprised position.

They have also taken the lead in preventing and controlling the COVID-19 pandemic and received and quarantined thousands of Vietnamese returnees. They have also firmly safeguarded national sovereignty, upheld political stability, and maintained social order and safety. These contributions and more have facilitated national socio-economic development and expanded foreign relations.

With close collaboration, they have effectively prevented hostile forces’ acts of sabotage, especially in strategic areas and along the borderline.

At the virtual conference, delegates emphasized achievements gained by the two ministries, pointed out difficulties during collaboration, and gave constructive opinions to boost the efficiency of the collaboration in the time to come.

They agreed that in confronting complicated situational developments in the country, region, and world in the coming time, the two forces should boost solidarity and promote cooperation in executing defense and security missions.

Addressing the event, General Giang applauded military and public security units and localities for their contributions to maintaining political security, social order and safety, especially at a time when the COVID-19 pandemic was developing complicatedly and might prolong. The units have also helped raise Vietnam’s prestige and position among international friends.

He suggested the two sides continue to embrace Decree 03 and other documents issued by the Party and Government on national security protection, social order and safety, crime prevention, and implementation of defense missions in the current period.

The two forces were urged to review, supplement, and adjust coordination plans to ensure safety and security for important events of the country and in localities. They should also follow situational developments to effectively handle issues, fight slanderous allegations by hostile forces to undermine and separate the military and public security forces, and fight schemes aimed at depoliticizing the armed forces.

General Giang also suggested the two forces prepare personnel and equipment for possible natural disasters while promoting COVID-19 prevention and control.
