General Tien, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, made that request during his pre-Tet visits to the two units on January 28.

During the visits, General Tien was briefed on the task performance of the two units last year. Specifically, they seriously exercised combat readiness, worked closely with other forces to ensure absolute safety during major events of the Party, State, military and localities. They also kept a close watch on local situational developments, maintained security, social order in the locality, and safeguarded border sovereignty. Additionally, they actively conducted search and rescue missions and gave recommendations to the local authorities to devise effective measures against COVID-19.

Addressing the meetings, General Tien spoke highly of the two units’ achievements last year and their efforts to overcome numerous difficulties.

He asked them to continue to observe combat readiness regulations during the ongoing 13th National Party Congress and upcoming Tet holiday.

The two units were also requested to conduct exercises with the involvement of other forces to handle situations related to political security, ensure social order and safety in the locality, make proposals to the local Party committees and authorities on preparations for 2021 defensive area exercises.

In addition, they should boost information dissemination and make preparations for the 2021 recruitment ceremony, strictly manage national borders, closely monitor border gates and border paths, and prevent illegal migration, crimes, and trade fraud.

As Tet is coming near, on behalf of the General Staff’s leadership, General Tien wished these units’ troops good health, happiness and urged them to complete all assignments.
