PANO - Since early this year, military units from the whole army have sent nearly 1,000 officers to localities to reinforce grassroots Party committees, Party and political organizations.

Military units also  organized  defense-security courses for 6,560 religious dignitaries and prestigious persons of minority ethnic communities, supported nearly 25,000 households in reducing poverty, mobilized 5,500 drop-out students back to school and eradicated illiteracy for 673 people.

What is more, military units helped connect 4,390 Kinh-minority ethnic family pairs to support each other in economic development.

Meanwhile, border guard units maintained more than 5,600 civilian self-operating groups to protect the borderlines and mobilized 173 households to participate in the management of thousands of kilometers of borderline and building hundreds of villages of social safety and order.

The whole army also offered gifts to poor households, needy students, dignitaries and parishioners, ethnic minorities and soldiers in difficulties; donated tens of billions of Vietnamese dongs to the Fund for the Poor.
