PANO – Military Hospital 103 under the Military Medical Academy on May 8th held a ceremony to receive the title "Hero of the People’s Armed Forces" for the great achievements of Medical Treatment Squad 3 (predecessor of Military Hospital 103) in the anti-French War.

Highlighting the unit’s traditions, Major General Hoang Manh An, the hospital’s Director, said that in 1950, the squad was set up in Anh Dung commune (present Trung Dung commune), Phu Ninh district, Phu Tho province, to provide medical care and treatment for wounded and sick soldiers and conscripted labourers in the resistance war against French invaders.

During the war, the unit’s medical personnel successfully fulfilled assigned tasks, providing treatment to thousands of wounded and sick soldiers in important campaigns, such as Tran Hung Dao, Hoang Hoa Thanh, Quang Trung, Hoa Binh, Tay Bac, and Dien Bien Phu. Over the past 65 years, the unit’s professionalism has dramatically improved, treating many patients with serious illnesses.

Praising the unit’s achievements in treating patients, doing scientific projects, and training personnel over the past years, Senior Lieutenant General Ngo Xuan Lich, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army, believed that the hospital would promote the victorious tradition to build it as one of the top medical personnel training centres of the army in particular and of the nation in general, and a reliable and prestigious hospital for soldiers and locals.
