PANO – On February 24th, localities in Military Zone 7 held ceremonies to hand over youths to military units. 

* At the ceremony to see off the enlistees in District 12 of Ho Chi Minh City, Deputy Defence Minister Lieutenant General Tran Don, Military Zone 7’s Commander Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong, and Vice Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Tat Thanh Cang encouraged the selected youths to serve their military service.

According to the municipal Council of Military Service, this year the city has more than 4,000 recruits and more than half of them wrote petitions to voluntarily join the army, while nearly half hold university and college degrees. Some of them are members of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

* Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army, Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Nghia attended the see-off ceremony in Ben Cat town, Binh Duong province, and gave encouragement to the enlistees.

This year, the quality of recruitment in the province has improved in terms of health and education in comparison with that of previous years. Among the selected youths in the town, eight are members of the Communist Party of Vietnam and seven are civil servants. Over 35% of the enlistees hold university and college degrees. 

This year, Binh Duong province was assigned to recruit more than 1,500 youths. This year, the province is among the localities to take the lead in terms of recruitment quality, with 53 civil servants volunteering to join the army.

* Earlier on February 23rd, Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Nghia attended the ceremony in An Thi district, Hung Yen province. The same day, 10 districts and a city of the province completed handing over selected youths to military units.

* Solemn ceremonies were also held in localities of Ninh Binh province. Senior Lieutenant General Mai Quang Phan, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics, attended the ceremony in Yen Khanh district. Thanks to good preparations and education, the quality of enlistees is better. To have such a successful enlistment drive, the councils of military service at all levels visited and popularized the amended Law on Military Service to families as well as encouraged youths to join the army. Businesses operating in the province also promised to employ demobilized troops.

* Nam Dinh and Quang Ngai provinces also completed the handover of enlistees to units.
