On implementing Plan No.822 of the Political Department of Military Region 9 on October 17, 2022, the Tra Vinh provincial Military Command coordinated with Victory Foreign Language Center of Tra Vinh University to organize a Khmer language class for troops of the provincial Military Command.
The class attracts the participants of 100 officers and non-commissioned officers from agencies and units under the provincial Military Command and the military commands of nine districts, town, and provincial-level city in Tra Vinh.
During the one-month long course, officers will learn to recognize Khmer letters, produce words from those letters, communicate in Khmer, and study military terminology in the language.
Tra Vinh province is one of the home provinces to a large number of Khmer people, accounting for nearly 32% of the province's population. Therefore, learning the ethnic language is the Party and State’s policy.
It also helps soldiers of the provincial armed forces understand more about customs and practices, thus raising the efficiency of mass mobilization and meeting task requirements in the new situation.
