Japanese Defence Minister Itsunori Onodera left Hanoi on September 17, concluding his official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of Minister of National Defence, General Phung Quang Thanh.

During his stay, the Japanese minister held talks with his Vietnamese counterpart, General Phung Quang Thanh and paid a courtesy visit to Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.
At the talks on September 16, both Vietnamese and Japanese defence ministers affirmed to do their best to strengthen friendship, mutual trust and understanding between the two armies.
The two ministers also shared their views on international and regional issues of mutual concerns.
As part of his stay in Vietnam, Minister Itsunori Onodera visited Commando School and the High Command of Naval Zone 4.
