The bomb, 250kg in weight and 1.50m in length, was dropped by the U.S. Air Force during the war.

The bomb was found on the property of Ms. Nguyen Thi Lien when her family started constructing a new house. After receiving the news, the Ia H’Drai Distrcit Military Command sent troops to keep an eye on the bomb and prevent people from approaching the dangerous area. The bomb was then deactivated safely by sappers from the Kon Tum Provincial Military Command.

Previously, the local sappers also deactivated a 175mm artillery shell, three 105mm artillery shells, four 60mm mortal shells, two M79 shells and two M72 rockets that were left behind from the war.
