* The General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) organized a conference for key political officers in the whole army under the chair of its Director, Senior Lieutenant General Luong Cuong.

Delivering his speech, General Cuong highly valued efforts of Party committees and officers in charge of political work at all levels in thoroughly grasping and seriously implementing Party and political work, contributing to building a strong army in terms of politics, and fulfilling military-defense tasks since the beginning of the year.

Particularly, the whole army units actively and proactively made recommendations on Party and political issues to the Party, State, Central Military Commission, and Ministry of National Defense; participated in artistic and filming contests; renovated both contents and methods in conducting Party and political work; and heightened troops’ political stance.

In the coming time, units in the whole army should focus on studying and following resolutions of the Party, State, Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defense; effectively carry out emulation drives; promote dissemination of the country and army’s external affairs activities; raise combat strength of Party organizations; be ready for search and rescue missions; well do mass mobilization to improve the military-civilian ties; and improve quality of gratitude programs.

* On the same day, Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, Chief of the VPA’s General Staff and Deputy Defense Minister chaired a conference to roll out staff work in the whole army in the second half of this year.

Delegates spoke highly of military-defense mission performance of the whole army units in the first six months of 2018.

In the last six months, the VPA’s General Staff would continue to direct army units comprehensively to promote the building of unit’s regularity, and improve the quality of training and combat readiness, while ensuring forces, technical and logistical supplies for task performances, joining hands with relevant forces to maintain social order and security, and being ready for search and rescue missions. At the meeting, leaders of the General Staff asked key officers of the whole army to instruct their agencies and units to implement the conclusions of the meeting and successfully fulfill their assigned tasks, contributing to firmly protecting national sovereignty.
