PANO – Senior Lieutenant General Truong Quang Khanh, Deputy Defence Minister, attended a ceremony to announce the decision to upgrade the Engineering Officers School into the Ngo Quyen University and to start its 2013-14 academic year, on September 20th.

Established on December 26th 1955, over the past 6 decades of construction and development, the Engineering Officers School has trained tens of thousands of troops for the army in general and for Engineering Corps in particular.

Many troops and officers of the school had joined the army and achieved glorious feats of arms during the resistance war for national salvation and now are undertaking key positions inside and outside the army.

At present, 100 per cent of the unit’s lecturers, with bachelor and post-graduate degrees, attain their professional qualification.

On March 13th 2008, the unit was presented the “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” title by the State President.

Addressing the ceremony, General Khanh congratulated the school’s staff and cadets on their achievements and asked them to continue to grasp resolutions and instructions of the Party and the Ministry of National Defence on education and training; build strong Party organization and comprehensively strong unit; promote teaching and learning quality; and well respond to “Say ‘No’ to negative phenomena in exams and exaggeration of academic results” campaign and the Party’s 4th Central Resolution, to turn it into a model in the army.
