These units have closely worked with each other to provide the most updated information about the developments in the East Sea to both Vietnamese and international readers and disseminate Vietnam’s guidelines, policies and goodwill on dealing with issues relating to sea and islands sovereignty to raise troops and people’s awareness of national protection strategy in the new context.
Vietnamese and international press agencies have also helped popularize more historical legal evidences to affirm Vietnam’s sovereignty over Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos.
Besides, the participants pointed out shortcomings in implementing dissemination coordination work over the past time.
Addressing the conference, Lieutenant General Mai Quang Phan said that in the time to come the dissemination on sea and islands should be more continuous, objective, accurate, timely and effective.
He held that there should be rules and regulations for the coordinated program between ministries and organs, and a contingent of specific reporters and editors in charge of sea and islands issues, adding that it was essential to develop new dissemination methods to ensure consistent information.
