Defense Ministry opens driver training ahead of ASEAN 2020 events
PANO – The Sub-Committee on Logistics, Techniques, and Finance under the Defense Ministry’s ASEAN 2020 Steering Committee kicked off a driver training course on October 28 in Hanoi in preparation for coming events as Vietnam takes the bloc’s Chair next year.

Present at the opening ceremony were Major General Nguyen Hung Thang, Deputy Director and Chief of the Staff of the General Department of Logistics and Major General Pham Van Khanh, Deputy Director of the General Department of Technical Affairs, among others.
In his speech, General Khanh underlined the importance of the course in improving driving skills for 187 drivers, who have been selected from various military units. After the course, they will be assigned to driving international delegates during the ASEAN Year 2020.
The safety for delegates, involved forces, and vehicles will contribute to the success of the ASEAN Year 2020’s meetings in Vietnam, he added.
